About nous
nous is a short student film directed, written, and produced by Isabella Ignacio. The film is a mix of science fiction, specifically social science fiction, and a psychological thriller.
nous is set not too far in the future where humans have a device implanted into their brains to level out their emotions in order to not appear irrational or "crazy." What once started as a trend, is now enforced by officials. The film follows Greyson (Brandon Ignacio) as he takes a new drug that hacks and deactivates the implant, nous, for the first time and experiences the effects from a first hand view. After taking the drug Greyson experiences what he believes is an allergic reaction as his mind is enhanced from the hack, which leaks immense knowledge and abilities into his implant. ***spoiler alert*** However, later revealed by Greyson's friend Chris (Glenn Gomez) this reaction is not abnormal and this is not his first time taking it. With a normal human mind, Greyson is not able to comprehend and store all events in his mind anymore, thus resulting in his loss of memory. He has actually been taking nous for some time now and is utterly addicted. Rather than try and rehabilitate himself, he continues taking the drug in order to keep feeling emotions. |
